Automotive Adhesive

Hey Guys,

When I had my JP USA front lip installed on my G several years back, the body shop used some sort of automotive adhesive instead of 3m double sided tape. It held on really well and the adhesive itself looked grey/dark grey. When I removed my lip a few months ago, I was able to get most of the adhesive off without damage to the paint. Any idea what it might have been?

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good automotive adhesive that drys quickly and holds tight? I'm trying to put on my Autokits-X AK1 diffuser but certain parts near the outer edges don't sit flush. It looks slightly warped. I'm assuming its due to heat from my exhaust.

Thanks!

Many years ago when I was in the sign industry, we used 3M VHB (Very High Bond) tape for things we didn't want to move easily. I still keep a roll around my garage for things such as this. It's a little pricey as far as tape goes, but I believe its worth it. Supposedly it was designed for use on space shuttles, but I don't know for sure.

Just my $.02 though.

Just one example:

***My mistake, you were looking for adhesive, not tape. Please disregard***

I have used 3M Weather strip adhesive for alot of things. It can be purchased either black (very dark green) or yellow.
