Power window motor problem! advice needed!

hey guys, my driver side windows got stuck while it was going down. I managed to bring it back up while fiddling with it. I tried the window reset and battery reset trick to no avail. Now everytime I open my door the window goes down an inch and it gets stuck there.

I decided to bring the car to the stealership and they said the motor was faulty and qouted me $785 CAD to fix it. Parts and labor included.

I am here to get some advice from you guys on how to care of this problem the best and the most affordable way.

Is there any place online where I can get the motor from?

Thanks!

Did you already do the reset per the instructions in your manual? The Roll down and hold for 10 seconds. .. If you search the forum the instructions are available excatly.

The window reset will definitly work for this. You just have to count it out.

It truly is as simple as googling "G37 window motor". You'll see how much they cost. However, if you can't install it yourself. you'll need to pay someone to do that.

I have tried this and it didnt work. My window does not move at all. It just gives a slight nudge when I press the switch.

Have you heard about the a1 cardone window motors? They are a lot cheaper than the oem ones. Im just not sure about their reliability.

If it is not going up or down then BB is right and you need a new motor. If you can roll it down then it just needs to be reset.

I'm familiar with the company. They manufacture all sorts of OEM replacement parts. I have no real insight on whether their window motor is any good. If it were me I'd most likely buy an OEM one, new or from a reliable source of used parts. Does it need a new regulator too?

Check the switch before you do anything else.

Contacts corrode much more often than motors fail, and are much cheaper to correct...

Just an update after I picked the car up from the dealer.

The service advisor said that after the tech put everything back together the window started working!

Now I don't know if something got loose or it got too cold but its working fine right now. Although I'm scared to touch the switch and get it stuck again.

So far the window goes down/up when I open/close the door. Ill try fiddling with it when it gets a little warmer.

Thanks for the advice and your input guys! Meanwhile I'll keep an eye out for a good price on the motor in case it starts acting up again.
