removing my shifter (MT)

Okay so i got my shifter to rotate about one and a half full rotations but now its completely stuck. I was using the method using a clamp on the main shaft under the shift boot and using my hands for the **** itself... that **** is TIGHT AS HELL! I tried using a wrench on the **** with a towel over it but it managed to still mess up the leather around it a bit and considering my cars a lease i am going to need to put the oem **** back when i return it so cant ruin it too much. Anyone have a better method of taking this **** off?

you probably want to put the towel and C-clamp on the **** itself. the clamp will give you the extra torque to remove the ****.

you will need vise grips and a strap wrench, you may still damage the **** though. see diy below

I just called the dealer they said that there is no guarantee that they will remove it without damages... and it cost 25$. I have tried it with a towel and clamp damaged the leather. Haven't tried the strap wrench tho might do that right now.

Good luck trying to get it off without damaging it. Mine was mutilated by the time I finished, but didn't care because the Z1 replacement is so much better! That and my G is paid for (mine).
