Fog lights

I have a 2008 base G37 with the aero front bumper. Over the weekend I installed the fog lights into the lower bumper and wired them directly into the fog lights that are built into the headlights. They worked for about 5 minutes then I think I blew the fuse, haven't had the chance to get to the fuses yet. I know in the previous threads everyone wired these fogs to a relay and added an additional button. My question is do I have to install a relay or can I just put the bigger fuse in? I know it's smarter to install the relay I'm just curious can I do some permanent damage to the lights if I give it a try with a bigger fuse?

you should put in a relay. I think that regulates the power surge...if you don't you will blow fuses all day no matter what amp it is

Use a relay, If you want them to function like OEM then use the factory fog wire to actuate the relay and use a FUSED power from the battery to supply the power for the fogs. A relay will not regulate current or power, it is just a switch.
Pins 85 and 86 are the coil, so put one of the factory fog lig wires on 85 and ground 86. Pin 30 is power from battery. Pin 87a is ALWAYS hot and pin 87 is only hot when the coil is energized. (the switch) now if you want to be fancy, you can put switched power from a source that is hot only when the ignition is ON to pin 30, and run pin 87a to the factory fogs and use them as DRL's they will switch off when you turn on your headlights with fogs
