Emergency: Need Opinions on IPL Interior

Good morning and sorry to jump in with a question without properly introducing myself; I promise to earn my keep when time permits. For now, time is of an essence and, to be blunt, I need the help of someone with good taste and an understanding of the G37.

A newcomer to the G37 - the same day (yesterday) I decided I liked the G37s and had a need for one, I also discovered the color Malbec Black and it was love at first sight. There is only ONE G37 of such color within range and it is an IPL. Fine. I like the cosmetics but the seats are all red. Saving you the blather of my reasons why this is undoable for me, I humbly present you with my dilemma of the red seats: The dealer is very understanding and has offered to replace the seats with the graphite leather w/ red contrast stitching, both front and back. Awesome. BUT, that leaves the red inserts in the door panels, which looks good to me, but what do I know?

Would the inserts be out of place in a car with graphite interior? Would the red contrast stitching in the steering wheel and seats bring it together and redeem this thing I may do to an otherwise beautiful car?

To those with taste and sympathy for those of us without, please help!
Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would look bad at all, especially with the red stitching on the seats.

Agreed. Red + Black is a perfectly fine color combo and since the rest of your interior is black as well trading some red parts for some black parts should be fine. The red stitching on the seats should also really help tie things together. I'd look at the door panel itself to make sure you're fine with the inserts themselves being red but I would imagine that you'll get a really nice look with the new seats.

Infinite thanks to both of you! You've made me feel better already. I liked the combo, but was afraid it may look tacky or mixed-and-matched. Would any of the resident IPL enthusiasts consider this swap to be an unholy bastardization? I am sure any enthusiast would know, at first glance, this is not how an IPL is supposed to look.

Thoughts?
And sincerely, thanks again for your time and patience with a clueless Gnewbie with no sense for fashion, looking for a sense of fashion.

PS. The color I would use is the OEM Graphite that Infiniti offers as the other color option for the IPL. It seems to be matched to the interior by people who know more about these things than I.

I think it would look great! (but since I drive an LE with teh red seats, I would say it wouldnt look as great as red seats )

In fact I wish Infiniti did something with the LE in regards to red stitching in the steering wheel, etc.

And your car will be "unique" once its done. Definitely a cool thing.

I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I think most of the Infiniti enthusiasts that you will meet will be much more interested in customization and individualization than slavish devotion to stock.

As far as the new seats matching, from what I can tell the only thing that Infiniti changes between the two interior trims is the seats and the door inserts so everything else should match up perfectly with the OEM black seats.

Thank you all for your help! This is obviously a pretty awesome group of people here. Your input was priceless and I think you from the bottom of my grubby little heart.

After reading the replies here and staring at the car long enough, the red really started to grab me. In short, I bought it as-is with the red accented interior and it is more awesome than a griffin with laser cannons for a face. Sorry for not reporting back yesterday. I suddenly had all these errands that, frankly, just couldn't wait. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks, Dr. Pat, but I am afraid I may have become addicted.
In my previous post, by 'errands,' I meant 'driving around with a grin like the fat kid who ate the chocolate cake.'

Xadow, you could ship me your red trim and I'd professionally spray and clear it any color under the sun you desire!
