Converting a coupe to a convertable

How much would it run to covert a 6mt coupe to a hardtop?

To put it briefly....A LOT!

Unless you are referring to trading your coupe in and buying a convertible.

Better to buy a convertible. No one has done that, even for a show only car.

As has been said, it would be absolutely insane. For one thing, a convertible has several hundred pounds of additional stiffening to compensate for losing the roof. It's not just for looks on the coupe.

Actually in this case, it's really not. It's not a matter money.

Everything is possible given the right amount of money.

I'm not sure it would be the smart way to go though when there are verts sold OEM.

I just threw up a little after seeing some of that. I would have liked to have seen a g35 convertible, but it's good that the OEM g37 vert was done.

From the seats back the vert is a diff car. Sheet metal, frame, suspinsion, it's longer and wider. Other than that... Grab a sawzall and go to town, blades are cheap and you won't need more than a few. No reason you can't chop up a coupe.

That website is going to give me nightmares... Some truly horrific things done haha.

The BRZ looked decent. Maybe the Testarossa too... but that's about it.

OP- I hope you would just buy an OEM vert instead of taking the ax to your own car.

This is something that would not be advisable. I would give you crap but I figure you are just learning. Please just trade your car in on a convertable if you really want one. The money you will save from not turning your car into a convertable can spent on keeping you from going upside down on your loan for a convertable.

You could probably fabricate a top-off convertible but not a hard-top stow-able convertible.

The G37 Vert is considerably heavier, as well as wider and has an entirely different profile.

No. Unlikely.
