How do I remove the chrome fog light trim?

I was able to cover the horizontal side bars with black vinyl tape while they were still on the car, but I need to remove the entire trim in order to cover the rings around the fog lights. Does the trim come off separate from the black plastic "mesh" backing...or do I have to remove the black plate along with the chrome trim? Do I have to pull back the wheel well cover and loosen something from the back of the bumper? I tried pulling on it last weekend, but it seemed like it was stuck on there pretty good...I didn't want to break any of the tabs.

What do you think is the best way to cover the chrome ring? I don't think I'll be able to wrap the rings with the black vinyl like I did with the side bars, so I'm guessing spray paint? I'm just worried about it flaking/chipping off.

Thanks in advance

from saving you from getting cuts, remove the front bumper and take off the fog light assembly. Lot easier IMO..... once you get used to i,. the front bumper only takes 15 + or - mins to take off

Its so easy to remove the bumper man. Just today actually I went from black chrome rings back to chrome. I'm gonna rock the chrome for a little and probably eventually go to black. Remove the bumper as Kevalteam said. Its so easy, theres even a DIY on here. follow that. Theres like 5 or 6 medium size phillips head screws to remove the entire vent assembly. then another 6 ish small phillips screws to remove the rings from the faux vent. Prep and paint away.

Consider it a learning experience. You'll get it done, and get to know a bit more about the car in the end.

Taking off the front bumper is so easy. Don't know why think its a big deal. Pop the clips out in the engine bay, get the 2 screws in the stiffeners, there's like 8 bolts under neath, and 1 in each fender well. Turn your wheels to gain access, pull it off. Done.

I was able to take out my fogs by putting the car on a lift and going through the wheel wells.

^ not everyone has access to lifts...
lot easier with bumper off.... ask your local G members for help.
I helped few and after their first bumper removal, they can take their bumpers off on their own. ^^

I changed my fog light bulbs by going through the wheel well, without even having to jack up the car...I guess I assumed I could get the chrome trim off the same way

Bulbs are one thing, getting all the screws without cuts, is another.

Seriously, the bumper is so easy to remove!

Pull it off, I believe it is attached by clips. I will check in the morning.

Don't take you're bumper off for no reason, factory always sits the best, plus it's pointless.

There's no clips holding on the faux vents or rings its all Phillips screws. And it's easiest to remove the bumper. The end.

What year is your car?

Did they come with them?

What are you going to do with them after you get them off?
