Leather Seat Replacement

Ok, so the bottom seat cover on my 2010 G (red leather) was cracking up and didn't look good at all. I took it to the dealer, and they said they'll replace it under warranty. They ordered the part from Japan and installed it a few days ago... What of noticed is that the type of leather they've used is much softer, foamier than the passenger seat. When I was picking up the car they mentioned that once the seats gets worn out, it'll look like the passenger seat, BUT looking at the material I don't think that's the case.

Now, I have 2 questions. Does anyone know if Infiniti has changed the type of leather they use in the later models? And if so, should I take it back to the dealer and ask them to find a seat cover that matches?

Leather is not a man made substance, you will never get 100% match. Only the part of the seat your butt/back touches is leather the rest is vinyl. Hence the statements similiar to "leather seating surfaces". Is it the leather that's off or the vinyl?

Its most likely because of cleaners and or oils, over time. The brand new leather feels way different. I had a loaner and noticed it right away. Give it time and use what ever cleaner you had used before. How ever I suggest you do not use leather wipes or armor all/ silicone. There is leather re finisher which is sold on line you wipe the seats down with alch or mineral spirits very light amount or degreaser. then apply and let rest for about 24 hours

Notice how the passenger side is shinier than the driver side. It feels completely different as well. So different that I really doubt they are the same sort of material.

Passenger (old):

Driver (new):

I have this exact same issue. I'd like to know from the OP how it looks now after a couple of years. Do they match now?

Possibly - worth a try. I got my driver's seat replaced at 28k when I bought it used.

That said, I have the same issue as the OP in that the new seat material seems to be different from the original. The part number is OEM, however, it appears to be more of a grainy, lighter black seat versus the original slicker leather feel. The dealer indicated that the seat would feel the same as it wore and leather conditioner used, but over the last 12k miles - no changes.

I have to try another dealer, mine said no. Im not surprised but every ipl I looked at had some issue either interior or body/ rims. Its not that bad, this car is clean though. I posted another two mrmbers wer thinking I was crazy because of tyring to get them to replace but that shouldn't happen this sion especially given the price on these cars new.

was told that infiniti changed manufacturer for the seats, that's why they don't look or feel the same =/

The seats in my '10 were much stiffer and less comfortable than my '13. Something definitely changed for the better IMO.

Are there any good aftermarket Quality seat covers out there?

I used to own a Fiero and they had amazing seat cover replacements out there for those willing to spend the money. I am hoping the same would be the situation for the Infiniti seats. Has anyone found good seat covers for their cars? If so please post pictures and explain the installment process.
