IPL Bumper Factory or repaint?
IPL Bumper Factory or repaint?
So I've been thinking heavily on getting a IPL bumper for my G, but, I don't know whether to fork out the extra money and get a factory painted one or just buy the cheaper color one and have it repainted obsidian black.
I would like to hear your inputs please!

If your super picky like me, I recommend just shelling out the extra cash for the factory painted bumper. I went the other route of buying the cheaper bumper in silver and having it repainted professionally by a shop moonlight white. While it looks pretty much spot on when the car is clean, if you really scrutinize it you can tell the bumper has slightly less gold metallic than the factory paint which still bothers me to this day. I will likely have it repainted down the line at a different shop in hopes of getting a closer to perfect match.

I know about it, but he isnt shipping and I from Seattle so yeah..
Another factor that comes into play regardless of whether the bumper is factory-painted is how old the paint on your car is, and how well it has been taken care of. If it has been sitting in the sun with no wax protection, and is several years old, you would have a problem with the bumper matching no matter who painted it. A body shop would try to blend it in, though.
Save money and get repainted if you have a good shop to take to they will color match pretty easy. It's black with not a lot of flake. Factor is not chip or scratch proof so you may sometime down the road have to paint anyway if you're picky. Just my two cents.

I got my sport bumper repainted at a shop, if its Kh3 obsidian black there is no blending or fade matching required. I dropped off the bumper had it repainted and installed it myself. Seemless.. The Oem "scratch repair" clear coat is over rated.. Doesn't even take care of light swirl marks.

For OB, I agree with most of the previous posters and would say just have it repainted by a reputable shop. They should be able to the nail the color down. Unless you are super picky and have to have OEM everything and money isn't an issue. But paying $1,000+ extra for OEM paint vs. body shop paint doesn't seem really worth it to me.
