Possible new hood?
Possible new hood?
I am looking for a oem carbon fiber hood for my 09 journey sedan. This is what I'm looking at right now and was wondering if anyone has used it and what the fit and finish is on it?

My information is from my last car, a Nissan 350Z. According to the folks who put carbon fiber hoods on the 350Z, the weight savings was negligible and they required hood pins because eventually the hood latch will rip out of the composite.
Hood pins are definitely suggested if the hood is completely carbon fiber! This is a valid risk.
However, cf hoods today are so reinforced with fiberglass (which kills the weight savings) that it all depends on how it is made
I have a carbon fiber hood in my G and the carbon fiber cover on it is basically just aesthetics. The way mine is built seems to be ok without hood pins. I bought them, but I do not run them. I always have this in the back of my mind though!

I have a Carbon Hood with Vents...not OEM style...
fits great after a little mod in the Brackets and changed the Screws to studs...
The one I have had bolts Screwing into the hood I changed it like our OEM hoods... bought some 2in studs and JB Weld and Done... bolts up like our OEM hood... the trick in the hoods is Washers and a flash drill bit to widen the holes om the brackets to move it left or right....
I bought 12washers to space the gap of the hood and the fenders...carbon hoods sink in by the brackets and needed to lift it to make it flush...
as for the hood sitting in... not one issue... no vibration and locks yet sits tight up front no gap..
You just have to play with the Adjustments on the sides to fit as its down.. took me a Hour for the whole install...
Lastly the Wiper nozzles thats a "B" there are holes for the locking pins to sit but no clips! I used 3M new Gray Double Sided tape.. that Chit is Strong! And cleaned the hood and the foam with Rubbing Alcohol and stuck it on.. no problems... Hood is 4-5 mo old... VIS...
as for Carbon Creations Hood? I do know the ED grill Carbon Sales Sucks ****! Doesnt fit doesnt even match the pin holes to hold it in place its like 1.5 inches away from the original holes are all around...
I had to make brackets just to hold it in... once its sanded and painted its yours...lol I put my oem one back just had it painted... the ED grill just sits in my Garage...lol
