Finally got the fog lights change to HID
What a pita to do lol! I finally got it done but the right side was really a challenge to install no space at all had to pull the light assembly out to get that bulb in. Very happy with the final result let the nights get longer now my car can handle it lol!
Nice! I did the same thing. I bought the DDM tuning kit, 6K. Works well. From the cabin view, its not a drastic change, but standing outside of the car, the road it lit up very well. However, I rarely have any fog. Did it just for looks lol
^HID's suck in the fog, especially if their the white color, there's a reason real fog lights are more amber/yellow colored. He probably just wants more light on the road from the fogs projecting out.
^Well aware of that. 3K would cut through fog and rain due to lower in Kelvin. In Florida, all the roads are lit. Barely any streets without lights unless its residential. I believe the term 'fog' itself is now more of looks than function these days.

I'm glad you're here to tell us these things us people here in LA have never driven in fog or rain before cus it never happens here at all.

Ok, I did it cus the damn stock lights looks like crap at night. Now it matches the headlights and it looks awesome at night. I change the inside interior lights to LED as well that was the easy part. Made the inside look very different glad I only got the stage one from diode dynamics any brighter it wood be too bright.

As far as cosmetics, maybe... but having yellow (3000k) color projected from the fog lights has more to do with higher lumen output and reduced reflection off of fog/rain/snow than anything else.
It's why the majority of OEMs stick to 4300K bulbs... aside from a few particular bulbs (namely the Phillips Xenarc CBIs 5000Ks which have the same output as 3000/4000k bulbs @ 3200 lumens), 5000K bulbs have 5% less output than the 3000/4300s, with 6000K being 12% less light and so on.

HID fogs should be the first mod on any G owners list! If you can DIY, then you can get 'em for well under $100. The factory fogs suck bad, theyre a joke. I was going to go for PIAA super ion plasma hyper hid led xenon gas filled krypton bulbs (the best and brightest) as I wanted to oem match the headlights but they're over $100 a pair and they are just colored bulbs. So I thought why not spice up my 2010+ sport front end and get some usable fogs in the process. I looked at prices of just bulbs vs HID's. I compared things like price, higher wattage bulbs, extra heat, something possibly melting?? HID color match but not output, and ended up installing a slim HID kit, and like in post #4 I too wasnt blown away by the light output from inside the car (I keep my seat low and reclined), but outside Im all smiles when I see them. I imagine looking at them head on is like looking at Kratos shining the head of Helios right in your face. I get a nice bright combination of colors from the 4300K stock headlights and the 3000k HID fog kit (I went 3000k yellow for the best visibility in fog and rain, but when the lights are off the lens and bulb are crystal clear). When I look at them from the side or in building reflections at night, they have a tinge of HID blue/purple/ion to them. Kinda like a rainbow in 'dynamic mode' effect minus red and orange. Judging by the way people look at the front of the car, I would say money very well spent on a mod that does enhance the appearance of your car with the lights on, as well as enhances safety/visibility. How can you go wrong..Now if I can only find a used set of oem sport DRL's and figure a way to have the fogs wired independently of the headlights.

Any pics?? im trying to do this also. havent installed them yet
I feel kinda lame for just doing the fog lights with LEDs instead of HIDs, but I did it for looks instead of function. I just wanted the fogs to have the bluish hue that the headlamps have. Next I'm gonna try to swap the little lamps inside the headlights to a LED bulb.
