Changing auto shift ****?

I purchased a M45 shift know for my G and wanted to know if anyone that had done this swap before had any inputs.

It looks straightforward, pull down on leather boot cover, pull clip and remove original. Reverse on the install..

Am I missing anything?

since the shift **** is shorter you will need to cut new hash marks into the shifter shaft for the locking pin.

Its actually easy. You just cut a new small line on each side. Hacksaw works best but dremel or even steak knife. Takes 5 min and does not change or affect anything.

It looks like I'd have to cut the lines for the clip. Compared to a lot of mods folks do it's a "drop in", to me it's not.

Going to have to sell it

i urge you not to give up on this. the M **** makes a huge improvement on the looks. its worth the 5 min, or marking where to cut and then cutting a small hash mark on each side.

That was my very first mod!!

Remove the clip.
Slide the **** fully onto the shaft.
Get a hacksaw blade only (No frame), the cutouts for the keeper on the **** are your guides. Make grooves in the shaft with the blade until they are deep enough to retain the clip.
Slide the clip back into the ****, push down until clip locks into the new grooves.

^x2...Super easy "10min mod".
I took off stock ****, slide on the M and I used a razor blade to mark the spots then dremel with cutting wheel to make the slots a bit deeper...put M **** back on with clip...presto you're done...one of the best mods for the auto G. Best of luck!!!
