Hey guys! Need your insight into this problem.
So! I just bought a used 08 g37s, but the headlights don't work. So whenever I switch on the headlights, there is absolutely no light, but my flood lights (the ones pointing down) do work. When I look at the headlights, it seems to both look fine. Does that mean I have to replace both headlights completely? Or the bulbs? Or the ballast? I'm so lost...

 

hmmm, are you sure both of them isn't working at all? the headlights run independent fuse so it's rarely for them both to stop working all at once. you sure you're turning the switch to on and not auto?

 

If both aren't working, i would first check the fuse and then the switch. It's very unlikely both bulbs would completely burn out at the same time.

hmm, I'm not sure.. I bought it like this, but yes I've tried everything with auto and on, and both headlights won't come on. I'm a noob here.. but how do you check the fuse/switch?

 

and, im assuming something to do with the ballast is out of the question?

 

Thats kinda hard to diagnose with both headlights not working. I highly doubt it's the fuse and it might be the relay or your switch. You can check the fuse though. That fuse box is located next to your battery. You'll have to remove all the adjacent panels in order to get to that and it's a long rectangluar box.

Since you just bought it can't you bring it back to them and make them fix it?

That don't mean anything. The parking and clearance lights uses a separate fuse so as the headlights. Headlights have a left and right fuse so it is very rare to have both of them burnt out at the same time. You can try changing the bulbs and checking out the fuse to eliminate those 2 factors first and if the fuses checks out fine use a test light to see if there's power going into the fuses while the switch is in the on position.

On a side note! Is your headlights modified? If so, is there any condensation?

No its completely stock, i dont see any condensation either

 

You can get them here from one of our vendors under the classified section. You can also try contacting one of your Chicago fellows like Chi City G and Fezzik to see if they have any insight about this and maybe they might have a extra bulb you can try out. Whatever you do don't buy it from the dealer. They'll charge you an arm and a leg for the bulb.

 

But only ONE relay controls both lamps!

 

I did mentioned it might be a relay issue or his switch.

 

Ok i will definitely try to contact them about this or even look up a vendor with bulbs. How much do they usually go for?
And how would i check the relay? Is it next to the fuses?

 

Idk where the relay would be at? Sorry, can't help you out on that.

Prices varies from vendors to vendors. If you were local to me I can get a pair for $40 bucks.
