what are those blue headlights called you see some cars with. they are very bright? what kind are they and what is a good website to look for them on?

In my opinion blue is tacky and the best look is a 6000k, but everyone is different.

We have HID, so can't get much brighter unless you adjust the bulb to blind people.

 

I have a 2012 G37 Sedan and I wanted my headlights to be more blue, most people choose 6k, but I went with the 8k (that is the color temp, the higher the kelvin rating, the more blue it is). You can check out DiodeDynamics.com (*Precision Replacement HID Bulbs (all sizes)). My 2012 G37 Sedan takes D2S bulbs. So I got the D2S 8k replacement bulbs. I love them, perfect amount of blue.

 

The higher the Kelvin rating also translates to lower light output (lumens). So it's not brighter, just more blue/purple.

 

so what kelvin is our headlights stock?

 

All OEM are 4300K.

 

just looking around maybe for new head lights and i called the dealership to ask what the head lights are stock on a 2009 G37XS. strength/size/type ect. he also said be careful with putting certain ones in there because some might blow out parts in the headlights due to putting out more power. anyone know anything about this what is safe ect. thanks

 

so infinitis comes with 4300k? so if im looking for a brighter temperature what model/size do i choose along with the color temp i want?

 

brightness and temperature are an inverted ratio. The more color you have the dimmer the lights.

That's why most manufactures use 4300k that is the brightest whitest light you can get.
At 6,000k you lose 5% but the light is slightly bluer
at 10,000k you lose 15% but the light is even more blue
at 30,000k you lose almost 35% of the brightness but your lights are Neon blue.

You need a "D2S" bulb with the temperature (color) your looking for.

 

so what do you guys recommend for color if i am looking to get a better color than 4300? how would 6,000 or 8,000 look you think? also it doesnt seem to let you pick any of the 10,20,30 thousand colors with the D2S bulbs

 

Good luck trying to find bulbs that high of a Kelvin rating that are of quality. Most people do not go above 10k. Like stated above, the light output is much much less, and it is almost too blue (Also a cop eye catcher). If you want a slight blue tint, I would suggest 6k, if you want more blue I would suggest 8k. Like I said, I am running the 8k because I like blue in my light.

 

I had my bulbs made with 12000k capacity but overshot the voltage of the bulb so they are brighter than a regular 8k (by about 600-800 lumens) but have just as much color as a regular 8k

I agree with the JDUB, 8k would be your best bet if you want bluish white lights with good output.
Any aftermarket bulb you put in will make your stock bulbs look yellowish its just how blue you want to go.It's a personal decision.

 

for a slight blueish light while still maintaining decent light output, go with 5000k or 6000k max. anything above that looks ricey and you will loose too much usable light output. Get some Philips Ultinon 6000k. It is pricy compared to the cheap $40 8000k bulbs. but they are quality.

 

im sorry for this question but what bulb size am i looking for on my 2009 G37XS? if i go 8k will that effect my brightness much for the people that have them?

 

Per the DiodeDynamics.com site, your bulb is a D2S just like my 2012. 8k will impact the amount of visual light. The bluer you go, the less light output. So if you really want "blue" in your lights like I did, go with 8k. if you want more blue, but want to keep as much light, go with a 6k bulb.
