the seating surfaces are leather, bottom and backs. if in doubt, do the "poke test": poke the leather and if you see wrinkle lines it's leather. if not, it's vinyl. bring on the dumb "poke test" jokes...

I've never noticed this. I don't know why but I just like it no matter what. It doesn't really bother me)

Infiniti seats are all leather, they do not use any synthetic or partial leather. the difference is probably the wear on your front seats vs the back ones not being used as much.

Assuming it's accurate I really like this test. The perforated surfaces and the bolster panels touching the perforated surfaces all wrinkle during the "poke test". The center butt strip in the back seat also wrinkles. The headrests, the armrest area in back do not wrinkle nor do any panels (other than the center strip in back) that are not directly adjacent/stiched to the perforated panels. Basically anything that touches the body (but not the head) of the four occupants (plus the center panel in back) all wrinkle.

I'm pretty much 100% sure this is not accurate. If it is then you know something no one else on this forum knows and I'd love to hear more. Plus i think there's definitely something to the fact that Infiniti calls them something other than "leather seats" or "leather seating". I have seen "leather appointed" and leather seating surfaces" in print and as a marketer by profession this jumps out at me as an admission that there's some leather in the car but not the full seat cover.

Does anyone know if leather actually costs that much more than vinyl?

When I was shopping for car, Ford dealer was literally giving away leather upgrades as way to entice people into buying their cars.

Although I do understand economy of scale, it seems that Infiniti would be foolish to save by using partial anything.
