Color match on new painted Q-panel

Hi guys -

The wife's 2009 G37 had it's front drivers side quarter panel crunched while parked. It was just repaired with new OEM Q-panel and painted.

The job looks 100% except the paint match is slightly off (a touch ligher in shade). The is light gray (not sure what it was called but kinda of a tan).

I wondering for those who have had some areas repainted, how close can I expect it to be?

It really depends on how good the shop is. I got my front bumper repainted and side skirt and it was spot on.

Have them redo it, say you're not satisfied with the paint match

getting perfect color match is an uphill battle with body shops.. eventually it turns into what your willing to accept and how long you want to leave the car their until its right.

Usually when a shop is doing a repair such as you described (full panel replacement) it is customary to "blend" the paint color into the adjoining panels to make sure that there is no discernable shift in color. If they tried to get away with just replacing and painting the fender and not the door/hood/bumper then they were taking a short cut.

Raul, there is no skill in matching black paint. One of the only colors that can be done without blending... only thing that has to be matched would be the texture of the finish "level of orange peel"....
