Painting TS bumper.. blend paint?

I'm painting and installing the TS replica front bumper at the body shop. It's a Stock bumper already molded to TS lip poly that i bought from a member here.. They want $400 to remove the old paint then new paint (blueslate) + install.

The body shop said i should blend it but they want $100 extra if i want to do that. Total of $500.

But my question is should i blend the rest of the panels (hood and fenders). I don't want my factory paint to get mess up and the front end will look repainted (not an original color anymore).

Should i go ahead the blend the paint for $100 more or just paint the bumper only?

Update : They want $500 additional to blend the paint. Not $100. They want to repaint the front end (hood and fenders) to color match with the new TS bumper. So the total after everything will be $900.

What i don't understand is.. Why they want to repaint the whole panels (hood and fenders)? Blending means partially painting the surrounding panels Or Painting the WHOLE panels?

i just don't want to pay additional $500 just to color match the new bumper.

Thanks

What is "blending" how many miles are on your car? If your paint is in good condition and looks pretty much new, and their putting new paint on the bumper you'll be fine without it.

That's a sick price! ^ and shouldn't a good body shop make it match anyways? I'd be furious if the paint is different

anytime you use a different type of material you almost need to blend the car... remember the rest of your car is already sun faded to an extent

Seriously I've never heard of painting everything else for a
Front bumper. Just paint the bumper and if it looks bad then blend everything

Blending means that they will paint the other parts around the front bumper (fenders, hood). If they were just to paint the bumper, there's a good chance that there will be a difference in color (darker or lighter shade) than the rest of the car. Keep in mind that your car's paint is 3 yrs old and it doesn't look 100% factory Blue Slate color.

I'm also in your position. I need to get my front bumper colormatched.

i thought blending means to paint partial part of the hood and partial part of the fenders. Not the whole hood and whole fenders. and $500 just to color match is expensive for me.

Blending is a common process for collision repair, but if they are a good pain shop they should be able to guarantee an acceptable match by TINTING the paint. This is basically the process of matching the color, faded or new, and tinting the paint mixture to account for the current color of the car.
I had a reputable shop do a new bumper on the front and they did a match that was better than the factory. There is NO NEED TO BLEND. Go get a second opinion before you get ripped off buddy.
