the way i look at it... the less attention you draw to yourself... the more you can lay low against the cops... get the tints, but just dont' drive around like a jerk. I live in central jersey... have 35% tints all around with no front plate... and I haven't gotten pulled over for it (yet). I'm 100% positive it will happen one day... and I am prepared to suffer the consequences, but I enjoy seeing my car the way it is now. =)

and it seems like you've already made an appt, so you're planning on getting it done regardless of what everybody says anyway am i right? haha post some pics when you it done.

Hahah well I wouldn't call it an "appointment" but if I do decide to get them done he is going up regardless so I'm gonna just tag along with him.

you gonna get pulled over anyway so get 20% or 5% ... the darker.. the better it will look.

Have a look at the threads I've posted you'll see pics of my car with 35% sides 20% rears. No cop trouble yet and I've had that setup for 6 years on black cars with black interior

I miss my 5% all around, but now I have test pipes, I can't really afford to be pulled over anymore haha. 35 all around for me.

i live in middlesex county and used to live in monmouth. i will tell you this, the less crime there is in an area the more cops will pull you over for the smallest thing. an example would be Red Bank. I used to get pulled over there for anything just because they get bored. If a cop is bored and see's tints in the rear and u have windows down, they will pull u over to check. hell, my sister got pulled over today for her plate blocking NEW JERSEY with a dealer frame in Monmouth County. And since you live in Colts Neck, expect to get pulled over for dark tint.

Do you legally have to roll up your windows? I don't think having back tints should be "probable cause" since it is legal to have any % back tints in NJ. That just seems absurd to me.

I have 35% all around (Including tails) and 50% on the windsheild w/ black interior. In the day it looks smoked but at night.. basically murdered. I've gotten 2 tickets in the past 6 months, but nothing like when I had my old Audi w/ 20% all around.

Go for it.

In my civic, I was pulled over multiple times even without having front tint on it. I have been pulled over in the following towns without even having front tint(my car had a WS2 exhaust, so it was quiet)
Belmar
Neptune
Asbury Park
Red Bank
Colts Neck
Matawan
Marlboro(3 times)
Manalapin
East Hanover(4 times within the last 2 yrs)

Mind you I did not get a ticket in any of these towns, they simply pulled me over for "believing" I had front tint. Every time I am asked to roll up my windows.

there are so many cars out there with tinted windows....i mean if you dont drive around like a dousche and dont attract attention, you'll be fine. Get 15 or 20...15 is perfect. Illegal yes, but there are much worse things out there to catch attention by the piggies.

I get hassled sometimes in Freehold, but that's about it. I got hassled once in Aberdeen, but he looked inexperienced. I have 20's on the 4 fronts, and 5% on the back windshield. I'm going to get 50% on the front windshield because it looks really good. I actually might also take off my 20's and go 5% in the front.

My opinion, 20's are great, but 5% is probably the best. If I were to re-do it again, I would do 35% front windshield and 5% on the rest
