Re-Painting The Rear Bumper

I'm repainting my rear bumper this weekend and the body shop guy said that he won't be taking off the mud guards because they are attached to the rear bumper with 3M adhesive. He wants to paint the rear bumper while the mudguards are still on it. Is this normal? Or should I find a new guy to do it?

They are easy to remove and put back. They can be reapplied with some more double sided tape. It sounds like he's being lazy. Have him take them off before painting. That's how my shop did it.

your shop is being lazy. they have to be repainted to color match the new bumper. I would find a new shop that doesnt take short cuts
