i was able to pull out the whole unit from the roof but couldn't figure out how to pull the bulb out. are the bulbs accessed through the plastic piece where the light shines through (the button part) or are they access from behind the unit where the wiring is?

 

I jammed a flathea screwdriver to pop off the plastic covers to access the bulbs. no need to remove the entire assembly

 

haha you definitely don't have to take the whole unit off. hope you didn't screw anything up by doing that. just pop the plastic covers off and pull the bulbs out
