It just goes to show that some things just don't end up worth the effort. I can't imagine what it would have been like after 10 years! Would it have rusted all the way through?

$500 seems steep for that work so keep shopping around. It seems that $300 would be more reasonable. It really s***s too, because the CF lid really looks nice on the right ride.

Good luck with the fix!

^^It looked great when it was new well except for the unfinished edges. I still got compliments on it all the time. But then it faded out and started bowing in spots so I decided it had to come off. And yeah lucky I did that now because I think 1 or 2 more years tops and it would have eaten through the roof.

I got a guy who said he would do it for about $250 and have it back by the weekend so I am probably doing that. Go ahead and do it matte black though.

Why are you thinking matte black? I could see matte on on LP or GS, but not sure it will fly with the OB. I don't think the matte would go well with my MW. I'd need to go glossy. The matte may look too much like trying to go fake CF which is what was so successful on yours before. Idk, it's a predicament. I guess go with your gut and see how it comes out. You could always save up and paint it again later if it doesn't fit.

I am thinking do the roof, grill, splitter, diffuser, plate frame and wheels in matte black and then leave the rest of the car OB. I think it would look good and different.

Ehhh... I say leave the rims gloss black, and paint you roof OB again... You could always wrap your roof and valance in matte black vinyl to see how it looks first, and great thing is that it's removable, without issues like the mastergrade roof cap.

Wow i got the same ****!!

Not nearly as bad though. I have maybe 2-3 fist sized spots where the paint is "wrinkled"

I also got mine off without any damage and sold it for more than i paid lol

I gotta take pics of my damage, either way i still gotta repaint the roof too.

To fix this issue, you must wrap your roof in 3M gloss vinyl before putting on the cap so something like this does not happen
