Gauge CLuster LED Mod

Gauge CLuster LED Mod
I posted a thread about this in the sedan section, but thought it should go in this section incase any coupe owners had similar thoughts to what i did.
A few months ago, I decided to swap the face of my gauge cluster on my 2010 G37 with the older face from the 2007-2009 G37. I liked that the older face had more color and italic numbers. Ironically, Infiniti has followed suit and now the gauge cluster in the 2011 G37 coupe is exactly like what i changed mine to.

I still liked the red needles from the older style also, but didnt want to mess with swapping the needles and backlighting on my last mod. Well, i finally decided to swap the needles out this weekend. see below DIY photos and results:
Here is what i tried first. I was planning on just putting red lighting gel over the white LEDs and having that provide the red light to illuminate the red needles. This was a FAIL. the light output was horrible. That is what you see in the pics below. This meant i had to de-solder all the white LEDs and replace them with red ones (not pictured). This was extremely time consuming, nerve-racking, and difficult. I am very happy with the results though.
And here are pics of the new white MID display with the old graphic speedo and tach with the red needles.
Then i tried swapping the 07-09 needles out for the '10 white needles using the red backlighting. this made for a uniform bright light that really was what i was looking for.
i loved the way this looked with full intensity backlighting (day mode), but seemed a little too busy in night mode when the color of the white and blue was dimmed. this led me to want to try another combination; the '10 gauge face with the '10 needles but with red back-lighting.
So here is my current set up that i just did yesterday:
installed version 4 of my cluster today. decided to see how i liked the look of the '10 faces with the red needles. i think i like it. i dont really know why, but the dimmer backlighting with the headlights on looks better with my newest set up. and the white numbers look "whiter". the pictures dont show the difference the way my eyes perceive them.
I like this set up for now. i have become painfully efficient at removing the gauge cluster and can have it out in about 15 minutes, so i will probably swap between the 2 faces when i feel the need to change up my interior.
