D2S prices and quality

Why are some D2S so cheap and some are so expensive?? I want 6000K but dont know which brand or where to get them. I see prices ranging from $20-$150...what's the difference?!?!

Can somebody (who has them installed) show me where to get pure white D2S and H1. Also, if you can, please post the picture of your headlights so I can see what they look like.

I've done a search but still can't figure out why the huge range in price.

Thanks

The differences in price typically represent differences in quality, just like most other parts. There are the eBay "JDM" specials for $15.99 that are pieces of crap with little quality control that may not last or may not put out clean even lighting. Then there are higher end bulbs with known quality, like Phillips Ultinon that cost 10x as much but are a reputable, consistent, quality product.

The huge price gap is because the saying is generally true, "You get what you pay for."

some claim that they do, but I think it has more to do with the color temperature of the bulb the anything. Philips stay a true 6000k while cheap companies might be more blue and thus have less output.

Higher quality bulbs aren't brighter than cheap ones, they are the color they are supposed to be and they last. Cheap bulbs are only good for blinding oncoming traffic and being bluer or purpler than their color temperature indicates.

these are very high quality bulbs that I just put in:

Morimoto 6000K D2S - HID Bulbs from The Retrofit Source LLC

you can see the quality in them by looking at the construction. It has the metal stands like philips bulbs that ensure that the beam pattern will be perfect. I dont trust bulbs that are cheaper than halogen bulbs.

i have the same bulbs, the low beams are great and pure white. but somehow i feel like the high beam on these bulbs are pretty weak. is it the same for you?

If you got a pair of Philips Ultinons for under $200 USD then they are probably fake.

I am using a pair from DDM. Been in my car since February 2010 and no complaints yet. We'll see how long they last...

Follow-up well got the Philips HIDS in the mail 2day. I pulled out my stockies and my suprise that my stockies are manufacture by Philips; are OE Hids are by Philips? So yeah the Philips I purchased on eBay are identical to my OE besides the color temp hmm which makes me believe Philips have 2 types of line for their HIDs OE's for car manufacture and Aftemarket Sales. IDK might be wrong haha
