Storage Box vs Ashtray ?

I have the storage box option instead of a front ashtray. Can this be removed and reinserted, like an ashtray can? I can't figure out how, and the owners manual (2-47) doesn't indicate it, but the ashtray is removable so I'm thinking its possible.

BTW - I called it an "option" but it's not user definable. I frankly don't know how I ended up with a storage box and others got the ashtray version. I don't recall a questionaire asking about my smoking preference.

Interesting... Don't know that the 008/09 have such a thing. The ash tray is removeable as you'd expect so that you can dump it out (if you are a smoker), but I wouldn't call it a storage box.

Pics of so-called storage box?

I don't know how good a pic will come out since it's all black, but I'll try. There's also a drawing of it inside the owners manual, it looks pretty much like an ashtray but without the cig holders and the inside is a short felt-like material.

hmmm that's interesting. I can't see the pic, but from your #4 post description it just sounds like a new thing they added in the 2010. I just use my ashtray for change but it'd be kinda nice to have the felt. Do you still have the lighter?

OP, try gripping inside the middle of the side nearest the shifter, and tugging, usually how those types of things come out

No, it came without a lighter. I just got the plastic a/c plug you can now see in the linked picture.
