the chrome trim around the windows...

Is the any way to get rid of the chrome trim around the windows on a 2010 g37 sedan.

I would love to have it all black...kinda like the shadow line trim that is available on the bmw.

I was wondering if it was actually Chrome or painted plastic. Is it Chrome?

I have seen where people have painted the aluminum on the inside. Maybe you could do the same.

You can paint it or wrap it.

Wrap it in black vinyl. That's what I plan on doing to mine.

Yeah, by wrap I meant vinyl. Ideally to match the black trim in the B pillar. Or you could be super aggressive and do a carbon fiber wrap.

Just wrap it in black vinyl, easy peasy. Do the door handles as well.

don't mean to sound dense...but I'm gonna anyway...

how does the vinyl stay on? glue? self adhesive?
do you remove the chrome pieces to go under the edge?
where would you get the vinyl?
I'm guessing you'd need pieces big enough so it doesn't need pieced together

Its self adhesive, you can get sheets of black vinyl from any sign shop, or on ebay by the foot. The same vinyl they use on car wraps. You dont have to take off the chrome, just trim to the very edge, you have to be precise about it.
Should last for several years, and if you dont like it, you just remove it, no big deal.

Thank you...I may do it just to see how it looks. As you and others said...very quick and easy way to change the look without going to the expense of paint.

I'd like to find some that has a dark translucent look, so the chrome still shows through but creates the effect of "black chrome"

Time to do some research...

Thanks again for the info!

Guys, I've actually been planning this even before i got my G, as of next week I get the Vinyl for the roof, but my next mod will be the black windows sill. For those who don;t know much about it, this install video will clear alot up!!! also the second one is of the same company applying it on the roof as I will.

I would like to find out how they get the "black chrome" look on the lexus emblems. That would be the ideal look.

The "Black Chrome" is simply paint. The Lexus emblems are actually dipped in Black Chrome and it costs a decent penny.

Or you could always try

Chrome Paint
