Light output with painted turn signal reflector ?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how much light output is lost with the painted turn signal reflector? A video would be even better! I'm looking to have the IM mod done but still deciding on the color scheme.
Thanks

Well of course its not as bright since the light isnt reflecting around, but the clear piece infront of the bulb doesnt get painted, only the chrome behind/around the bulb. So the bulb itself is still visible and it still "lights up" the clear piece.
Just to give you some examples of what a headlight looks with and without the turn signal reflector painted.
PAINTED
UNPAINTED
IMHO i think it looks terrible without the turn signal reflector painted. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

+1 it does stick out, if you're busting the headlights open anyways then might as well do it perfect, you can install a turn signal on your fender like our Gulf Spec G37s

Light output will decrease noticeably. Chrome will always reflect better than any color you paint it with. With stock, the entire area of the reflector lights up. If you look at the shape of that region, it allows the cars next to you to see the signals, it doesn't just project outward to the front.
