Heated Seats Malfunctioning

Whenever I turn on my car, the seat warmers on the driver's side seem to turn on for a while then turn off eventually. Has anyone else noticed this or is the seat warmer malfunctioning? Thanks

I am assuming this is when you have the switch turned on?

If thats the case, the seat heaters are designed to cycle on and off, not to provide continuous heat. If they stayed on and provided continuous heat, theres a good chance that they could get so hot that they could cause a burn. Every car that I have owned with heated seats, cycle on and off.

Seats are thermistatically controlled, will cycle on / off as needed.

That's what the dealer told me about my 08's driver seat, but the passenger seat didn't behave the same and the drives seat would barely get heated before it shut off and got completely cold before it warmed again.
My 09 does not do this (yet)... Hasn't been cold enough for a good test.

Well there always is the option that there is a defect. Especially if the two seats don't behave the same way.

You could get it check out for a warm fuzzy feeling that all is well but it is normal to have them cycle on/off when your setting is on "High". If you keep the setting on "Low" then they turn typically just stay on and keep the seat at a warm even temperature.

I can tell you, my 08 was not normal... I've had 5 Infiniti's and none gave me trouble like the 08 drivers seat... Sometimes, there really is a problem.

I was wondering about this. The seat heater is pretty useless. I want my seat to heat up until it's almost unbarible, like every other car I've drove did. Leave the "it's hot enough" logic to me, not some stupid computer. I think it's a defect though, as opposed to working as designed.
