My car was broken into yesterday. I need a replacement glass for my driver side. Would aftermarket glass fitment create any problem?

Shouldn't insurance handle it?

maybe his deductible is higher then the cost of the glass...

I have never had an issue with after market glass, but that has been mostly with old trucks...

Most glass shops use good quality glass that is just as good as OEM. In fact, the glass is typically manufactured by companies that make glass for other car manufacturers. Ask the glass shop which brand of glass they plan on using and then do a search to see who they manufacture for. I find japanese glass is not the greatest anyway based on prior experiences.

Im a stickler for oem glass-anyone who looks at your car can readily identify it's not oem and has been replaced. Also if you have warranty window mechanism or weatherstrip issues in the future Infiniti could attempt to blame non-oem glass.

Drivers/Passenger side windows usually cost under $500.00 to fix.

So your insurance won’t touch it. This is out of pocket unfortunately.

+1 , but sorry about what happened to you. What all did they end up taking in the break-in?

Depends on where you live. In Ky. glass by law is a zero deductible if you carry comprehensive.

And elsewhere is covered under comprehensive which most people carry a lower deductible on. You pay the deductible and insurance rates are not affected since it's not collision. I use State Farm and all their glass coverage is outsourced and underwritten by a separate company and the confirmed that rates are not impacted at all. Some states like Massachusetts have a state law where it's covered in full for free.

The thief ended up taking my Valentine One radar, Laptop, and iPhone which is in the laptop bag. I'm gonna call my insurance since I have renter insurance, the properties inside the car are also covered.

I got a quote, aftermarket glass is $215 installed. OEM glass is gonna cost $375+
