OEM Rear Spoiler??
OEM Rear Spoiler??
I went to the dealer today to get a price on an OEM rear spoiler installed for my G37 and they said it was $669 installed
. I thought that was really expensive. Has anyone here ever had one put on after they bought their car? I was looking at some aftermarket one's but I think OEM is the safest way to go. Any ideas for getting it cheaper somewhere else, if in fact that is the correct price?
I bought an OEM rear spoiler after i got the car, i bought it for $240.00, put it on for $100.00, it is a good price for the OEM spoiler, i bought it from somebody who purchesed from Infiniti dealership of Texas, the quilty of the spoiler is good, but since i have a back up camra system on the trunk, so it doesnt look exactly same as the factory one, i will post some pic later.
Unless you buy it from someone just like sharp_cai has, than expect those high prices. I bought the Grubbs spoiler and installed it myself, and it fits and the finish is just like OEM.

I could instlall it myself, but since drilling was involved, I wanted to be sure if anything was messed up, I would have a gaurantee on labor.

The Grubbs spoiler looks nice!
Will the dealer install it, and will it affect me at the end of my lease since it's not OEM? It looks very similar. I do not have the back up camera. I would install myself, but I don't think I'd want to drill into my trunk. I'll leave that to the pro's.

aftermarket, requires splicing of wires, and sometimes the camera cut out is NOT accurate, you end up missing half of your camera view. (thats if you buy those 100 dollar one's on ebay)
OEM, best way to go, Comes with all instructions, drilling is required, no splicing wires, the inputs are all & the camera hole is 100% accurate.

I purchased a Grubb's about 2 weeks ago. The camera hole was round and the fit was not as good as I had expected. I was very disappointed as so many have said how great the Grubbs is supposed to be. I had to use a rubber washer in the hole to fill in the gap that the square camera in a round hole left. I was able to use the holes that already existed from the chrome spoiler. When you take the chrome spoiler off it actually leaves six holes open in the trunk (4 where bolts came through and 2 that are "plugs") so you need to keep the 2 "plugged" holes plugged or use silicone seal if you are going to keep water out of your trunk. On a good note, the paint (AG) was matched perfectly.

I just had the replica spoiler installed on my G about 2 hours ago and I was very pissed when he was done. The camera hole doesn't fit flush with camera and it just looks cheap and aftermarket to me. The reason I was so pissed is because I didn't want a replica spoiler. I thought I was getting the OEM spoiler. I have a friend that works at the Infiniti dealership and he gave me the installers direct phone number. When I told him what I wanted he said he would take care of me and I would be very happy. To make a long story short, he ordered the OEM spoiler directly from Infiniti about an hour ago and he will be installing the real thing on friday. I'm not as pissed anymore. At least he's doing the right thing and switching it out.
EDIT: He installed the OEM spoiler a few hours ago and it looks great! I'm a very happy camper now. If any of you are debating about not getting the OEM spoiler and getting one of the cheaper one's to save some money, don't do it! There is a big difference in quality. If you want the factory spoiler on your car then go with the OEM spoiler. It's definitely worth the extra money.
