scratched bumper - please help!

I'm a long time lurker on this site and have always enjoyed reading all the posts. But now I need your help...

I got home last night from a weeklong business trip and realized some $^%&@$$ hit my car on the driver's side front bumper. Mind you, I park my car in my condo's gated, covered, assigned parking space, and the person didn't even bother to leave a note.

Anyway, I know you guys give great advice, so I was wondering... Based on the pictures, do I need to take my car into a body shop? Or can it be fixed at a good detailing place?

Also, I'm in Miami, so if anyone has a reliable place you think I should go, please let me know. I'd rather go some where someone from this site recommends.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It is hard to tell from the pics if it went through the clear coat or not. But my advise would be to take it to a good detailer and see if they cant buff it out first. As long as there is not a dent, which it does not appear to be, then you should be good going to a detailer.

Look on the bright side, at least you know what color car hit you.

well since you have assigned parking, you could probably narrow it down to the person who possibly did it... like Heat said you can see the paint color... go after that basturd!

and +1 on what everyone else said, take it to a professional detailer and see what they say

Thanks for the replies so far.

I know exactly who it was, since they park right in front of me, and my paint was on their bumper as well. The parking spaces are assigned, but don't have the unit # on them. So I have to wait for now

Until then, I'm just gonna go ahead and get my car fixed. I've only had my G 3 months and can't stand to see it this way.

Anyone know of any good professional detailers in the south florida area?

Thanks again!

take pictures of the other car so you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that person did it... man i can't believe someone would hit and run especially if they park in your garage with assigned parking... the nerve! confront them and make them pay for the damages!

^^ +1. That's lame that they didn't even leave a note but freaking park near you...the trolls of our society....did they hope that you'd magically lose your sight before you'd see their car again??? Morons. I say file a police report, take pics of the other car along with yours, and their proximity to your car's assigned space.....then find out who owns it and confront them with the detail shop's bill. Cheers!

It's very likely the idiot didn't even know that they did that, with music playing in the car they probably wouldn't even hear it and with that little damage, definitely wouldn't feel it. Just go ask/tell them about it nicely for starters...
Oh, and no way that's gonna buff out completely.

that could be possibly but i doubt it. if you hit something or scrape it you're gonna know, and if they didn't they would keep scraping until they saw it or heard it.

its gonna cost you at least $500 to get it fixed. it doesn't matter how big the scratch is. all scratches have to be sanded, primed, painted, and the entire bumper clearcoated. find a good shop and get it done right the first time. tell your insurance about the entire situation and they may go after your neighbor for the deductible

"that could be possible"

Let's wait and see what the OP says they said.

There's lots of older/inattentive drivers out there, plus, if they knew they did it and they park there all the time, they'd be pretty stupid to think that they're gonna get away with it! For these reasons, my money is still on "they didn't know"

Doubt that can be buffed out. Hard to tell from the pics but there appears to be more than paint transfer.
