Paintless Dent Repair (pictures)

Someone slid on ice and fell into my car a few weeks ago. They put a small dent in my driver-side front fender. I'm just posting some before-and-after pictures of the paintless dent repair that my local body shop did today.

Apparently, since the dent slightly creased the sheetmetal, and crossed over the fender crease, it was not a simple "pops-a-dent" kind of fix. Their painless dent repair subcontractor initially told me he couldn't do it, but I figured if my only other option was a full body repair then it couldn't hurt to let him try it. So he gave it a whirl.

IMO, it came out pretty good. $175 and 45 minutes is a lot cheaper and quicker than $800 and 6 days!! I'll also point out that I took about 20 pictures of the repair, and these are the only 3 that anything was visible on. You have to catch the reflection just perfect or else you'll never see it.

Quick trigger there aliiin!! I think my mailbox dinged before I even hit "post."

Anywho, I have no idea who it was. I went into a gas station to get a coffee, came out, and there was a dent in my car. Everyone told me it wasn't another car though because whatever hit it had a soft edge, and there was no paint left behind. Besides, there was never a car parked next to me. There was, however, a big frozen puddle right at that corner of my car. So I just assumed someone slipped on the ice and hit my car. Either that, or a meteor.

They must have had a lunch box in there hand. Wierd

Nice repair and I have used them in the past and as long as all of the paint is there, they can usually do a good job. The guy I use is very secretive and never lets me in the back of the shop to watch. Not sure what is happening in there.......

Oh this will haunt me every single time I walk up to my car. We were all joking about how it had to be on the driver's side. I just have to look at it thusly... That little tiny blemish saved me $900 and allowed me to get a spare set of headlights with the Arc Reactor!! (at least it will, at some point)

This guy was pretty secretive too. He just did it in a parking lot, but politely asked me to wait inside until he was done. There must be a trick to it that they don't want anyone else to know about.

no trick. those guys are pretty skilled and i've watched it done. they probably don't want people sticking their noses in every 30 seconds asking stupid questions and distracting them. i had a forearm mark behind the quarter window on my g35 fixed like it was never there.
