Dissappointing Paint Job
What I'm surprised about is that this is a surprise to other people? NIssan is notorious (for many years) for having the softest, crappiest paint available. My chevy paint is several times better and that's just sad............ lol
do you have any sort of facts for this?
I concur with the consensus. I've been buying new Nissan/Infiniti vehicles since '91 and the paint quality is poor, particularly when compared to some "lesser" cars. I too am especially disappointed with the poor durability of the finish on my BO. It's one of my biggest peeves with a car that I dearly love. The same was true of both of my Maximas, Stanza, and my Harbody truck.
When the G35 first came out in 03, there were a zillion complaints about the paint being weak and easily chipping. I'm not surprised that nothing has changed. Bottom line is that Infiniti does have issues with poor paint and it's an ongoing and inheritent part of ownership. I learned the hard way after 2 repaints of my front bumper that only a clear bra will help our cars. Again, it helps quite a bit, but continual highway driving over the long term will play havoc eventually to the hood and front fenders. It's just a matter of biting the bullet, or staying off of highways.... which of course to most of us is impractical.
sell it
If the bitterness and unhappiness are that heavy then, selling/trading is the only therapy. I've been there with the 2003 2500HD crew-cab and that bitterness about the problems I shouldn't have had lingered for about six months after getting my Frontier - for which has been an awesome truck for the bucks.
Very true
You're right. I just bought an '09 Black G37x coupe last week and when I went to give it a good shine with this Meguire's quik detailing mist spray, I noticed that it had a ton of swirls on it already. I even paid the extra money to get the paint protection done by the dealer. Do you guys think I should take this back to the dealer and request that they give it a good buff?

You got those dealer installed swirls didn't you. That was an option on my car that I also think I took. Thankfully my car is the classy white.

My dealer allegedly claybars the car. They do BMW, VW and I think one other brand. I talked to the guy in the garage that preps all the cars and he said that all of the BMW's get claybarred. I clabarred it myself after I got it and it was clear that they didn't do it themselves. Its just a guy in a garage out back of the dealer not being paid very much to "detail" the new cars. What does he care.
