Yes. You'll need to grip it, else you'll twist your shifter shaft.

I have the same **** on my 37 so it should fit. You can take off the oem **** with rubber oil filter wrench to keep from destroying it. Also, you need to take off the aluminum console / ashtray area and get under the leather boot to grip the shaft before you start unscrewing the ****. Be sure not to spin the shaft, grip it with vise grips with something to protect the shaft from getting all maked up. I cut a piece of rubber hose in half and it worked great. The stock **** is on really tight to be sure to grip the shaft and the **** tightly. I even maked the shaft with a small white dot so I was sure not to spin it while I was loosening the stock ****.
