Rear Window Tint Issue
Rear Window Tint Issue
I had my G37 tinted about a month ago and the back window just doesn't look right. It was tinted with Llumar tint not sure which one, I think it is one of the thicker tints. The issue is the film has a lot of grain to it and on the back windo with the defroster lines it seems pretty blurry. It seems worse at night. I was told by the person that tinted it that it is normal due to the film, the slope of the rear window and the defroster lines.
Is this normal or is it some bad tint? Anyone have the same issue? Looking for advice as the tinter said he will re-do it if I want but he is confident it will look the same. Are your rear windows clear?
Thanks.
Pete

Mine is clear, i am using llumar 5% also. The guy did a fantastic job on mine, i couldn't be happier.
Maybe its a weird tint film. Why dont you go to a different shop just to get them to inspect it? I'm sure they wont charge you just ask them if something isnt right or not.
Goodluck

Mine is 15%. I was thinking of having someone else look at it. I will try that this week. I think the tint is bad. From the outside looking in it seems fine but when you look through the rear view mirror it is blurry. I can really see grain and waves in the film.
I am afraid it will look the same if he re-does the rear window.

It sucks for redoing the rear window because of the defrosters. Did he remove it before? Or is it the first time your getting the window tinted?
is it possible for you to catch a pic of it?

It has only been tinted once. I have been giving it some time to clear up but it has not. With the heat in Tampa I am sure it is cured by now.
I can try for a picture but not sure it will show up.

Hmm, I thought that is a normal phenomenon. It's fine during the day, but at night when I look out the back the defroster lines cause the tint to reflect light... it's not bad, but I do notice it.
did your tint guy cleaned the windows good before he tint it? he probably didn't cleaned it good enough before he tint it and that may cause blurry visions. if i were you i wouldn't remove the tint as that may damage your defroster.

Hm, so it is happening to more than one person?? Maybe my tints at 5% are a little too dark for me to notice anything?? I'll focus on it tonight and let you know if mine is the same.
I am pretty sure he cleaned the windows well. He has been doing tint for 16 years and tints for the Porsche and Aston Martin dealer.
I dont want to replace it but it is annoying due to being so blurry
