Question Stock interior light question

Hello,

I posted this in the newbie section.. and I think it got lost there, so I will try again here.

...That tiny light that points to the passenger seat.. my passenger was pressing every button everywhere.. and it came on.. I could not get it to turn off.. I even pressed everything - well, maybe all but the right one - Finally I walked away & hit the lock.. it went off a minute later when I returned..

So, tell me.. what sequence did we accidentally hit to keep it on?
I thought the dome light on-door-off thing did it.. but it was set to door. The other interior lights were off.

Thanks!
-Ryan

That light should come on when you get in your car. it might actually be on only at night (maybe when you activate your headlights?) but it's basically an "ambient" light. It just makes it so that the interior isnt so pitch dark at night thats all. I thought it stays on automatically.

The tiny ambient light should point to the shifter not the passenger seat, unless you're talking about something else. The ambient light is automatic.

OK, this makes sense. Last night, driving, I noticed it did shine at the shifter..
I found nothing in the owner's manual.. but then again, I didn't know what to look up.

Thanks. It's good to know I didn't turn it on..

The light should be white and yes that light only comes on when your headlights are on. It looks actually very nice at night when you are in a really dark place.

BMW's ambient light is red.
G37's white is way better imo.

Anyone know if we can change the lighting on the clock?
i saw somewhere, maybe a G37 brochure, a clock with a different lighting
