accent lighting operation

Can someone describe the optional accent lighting operation? Does it stay on all the time, come on only when the door is opened or on when the headlights are on? I've read that it's just two LEDs wired. Is that right for $120?

Same Question

+1 for this question and the following. What does the kit consist of? What does installation consist of? Can the kit be duplicated?

Duplicated? sure, for under $10... just look up "led bolts".

Is the list price for the LED accent lights supposed to include installation? (I was quoted installation as an extra, but when they quoted the spoiler there was no extra labor charge)

Diy

there is bigger thread on this at g35driver.com

It referenced the BCM for wiring for a DIY version for earlier G35 models. I have to think that since this is now offered for the newer models that the car may be prewired for this kit that the dealers are selling. If so, we just need to find the harness or plug. Can anyone refute this so I can stop looking? Also if I am wrong, does anyone know where the BCM wires are for the room lights in our cars as opposed to the G35 in the thread above?

I was thinking the same thing so I looked around and took some pictures the other day but this is the only connection I saw underneath the driver side. It doesn't look like a lighting hookup, more like a test or data connection. Any idea what this is for?

the connection is behind the glove compartment. You will have to take the glove box out and I few screws to get to it. And simply plugs in to the light for the glove compartment. It does indeed stay on like the light in the overhead of the car. Very nice touch that glows from the floor board up.

That connection is for linking to Consult-III. Its what we use at Nissan/Infiniti to check for DTC(Direct Trouble Calls) for the car. You can access all the modules through Consult-III, including BCM,ECM, etc...

So if we connect our own LEDs or ccfl lights to this connector, we get the same effect as the kit? Does the OEM kit include a switch for turning it on at will or is it just activated by the doors? I'd love to see a kit. What's in the box? I see some switch blanks in the car , I'd love to know why they are there.

Thanks all for more info. Yes, it would be great if anybody can post a picture of the kit, and possibly the glove box light connector. Does it plug into the same one or does it couple on or something?

Wow

Thanks for the pictures. That is awesome. Now all we have to do is source those lights . Looks like plastic button LED's. Do they snap into a known prefab location? Also, there does not seem to be anything special about the harness. I mean no extra electronics, right.

Thank you Comatose for the pictures. I cannot believe this costs $134. Material seems like it should be $30-40 at most.
