can overlay caus some trouble?
Can you post pics? Are you sayng that the overlays that you have on your G from bat caused cracking already?
well see i dunno if its from the overlays coz my bumper is kinda off by a tiny bit that u cant even realize it, so i dunno if its because when i rub, the bumper went up and caused the crack or not.
I don't think it's about "magnifying" the heat as much as it's not allowing the headlight plastic to expand/contract when it wants to. It then cracks.
I would also think the quality of the adhesive would make it yellow or not. It depends on the manufacturer of the vinyl. For body overlays, I wouldn't risk it. It's probably better to get the surfaces painted.
I'd rather have it done right than cheaply.

lol, do you guys actually think I'd be making these if I knew they were causing cracks on the g37? Out of the 70 different cars I make them for, NEVER had any issues with cracking. Look, there have been many stories about overlays in general and headlights cracking or stress cracks. I've been doing Overlays for the G35 since 2003, and yet have I ever found a thread regarding headlights cracking due to any type of overlay, whether it be mine or someone elses. And believe me, there are many other people selling overlays/headlight protection out there for many years now. Now, on the 350z forums, there have been issues with cracked headlights, some say due to Overlays, but still no real evidance that the overlays are causing the cracking. In fact, there were cars that never had any overlays whatsoever, and the headlights were cracking! Many theories point to the Lexan Nissan uses causing the cracking. Same thing with the newer Eclipse, headlights were racking, some say from overlays, yet some didnt even have overlays and their headlamps were cracking! Again the issue here is the Lexan used to make the headlight casings. the issue remined all the way up to 2006 on the 350z! I understand your concerns, but personally, I wouldnt be too concerned. I've been sporting Overlays on my cars since 2003 and have NEVER had any issues with cracking at all, neither have many of my friends who've had them for quite a few years. Now on the taillight, never heard any cracking due to overlays. seriously though, you really think I'd be making these if I knew they caused any cracking? I've been doing this since 2000 now
. One more thing, some people say it's caused by the heat trapped due to the overlay. My GTR Overlays have cutouts for the lamps, so you shouldnt even be worried about heat being trapped. Also, the material I use is only 3 mil grade, not very thick compared to the 20 mil grade you see out there.
Bottom line, if you're that paranoid about cracking, dont get them. I wouldn't hesitate one bit about sporting them

A good remedy for yellow/hazing is Meguirs Plast-X. My buddy had this issue(no overlays) and the stuff worked wonders!
