my friend had maxima.. and he put overlay on headlight only(was not from bat) after while overlay pilled off and now.........
he's headlight is yellow... like you put yellow overlay on top.. he took it to dealer and dealer said.. because his headlight doesn't have clear coat that caused headlight to turn yellow...

My friend owns a body shop and he also told me that he sees cars with overlays on the headlights and taillights where the lenses are cracked all the time. He said that the heat is magnified by the overlay and cases the plastic to crack and suggested having the lights painted and clear coated.

I believe him with the heat that we have in Texas.

I think that after time the headlight housing turns yellow and people cover them with overlays and how would an overlay magnify the sun? Its just like window tint and that keeps the inside of your car cooler.

I hope not. I was planning on getting all the overlays bat has for G37. Now i'm thinking twice. Especially if it has a chance to take off the clear since i want the roof overlay.

i would think the material the overlay is made of (metallic or non-metallic film) would have something to do with it. a ceramic would be nice.

Like I mentioned earlier, they can cause the lenses to crack since the black magnafies the heat of the sun on the plastic. He even showed me two cars with it. I will just have my headlights and taillights painted.

Does it matter what material the overlays are made of? What were those vinyls made of that caused the cracking?
