Sweeeet. Cant wait till i install mine. Did you use the same tape and tail light clips...? Im worried about breaking them

 

What do you mean by the same tape?I used regular tape (prally 1/3 to 1/2 of inch in width) to tape the led bulb to the bulb socket for turn signals, to make sure that led does not fall out with time. And for reverse lights, I actually applied some clear silicon to the upper interior of the bulb socket to make sure these don't fall out since and then stuck the bulbs in. Once the silicon dryies, its there for good. Regular silicon from home depot. I couldn't use tape, because there was nothing to get a grip on. As far as the clips go, they are pretty durable. I'd say i had to take my lights out 8-9 times before I got the bulbs right. As I mentioned in the first post, unscrew the three nuts, and then try to fish a wire behind the rear light, and pull on the wire to get it out. If that does not work, then you'll have to tear off the top panels as seen in pics to get the light out. Hope that helps

 

I mean the clips for the tail light covers them selves.. Did you have to remove these?

 

no, they are attached to the light to the best of my understanding and cannot be removed. I tried to uncrew one with my fingers, but couldn't do it. But again, maybe I did not try hard enough, because you can get a wrench around these clips if you wanted to since they are pentagon shaped. I don't see why you'd want them out, but knock yourself out ))

 

Could you please make a video of the turn signals in action? I want to see how bright these LED's are. Thanks

Can you do a DIY on how you got your tail light off...?

 

Look at pics IMG_1558.JPG, IMG_1559.JPG on page one. On pic 1559 you'll see the panels that I had to basically rip off (pull them up hard) in order to get a grip on the light. On pic 1558 you'll see where I got these panels off from. It's very self explanotory. Now if I were you, like I said, try to fish a small but strong enough wire(s) behind the tail light from on the turn signal side (that is after you unscrew the 3 nuts from the inside the trunk for each light) so you can try pulling on the wire to get the lights out instead of ripping the cover panels off and pulling on the light itself. These clips hold the light pretty tightly!So if you are not able to get the lights out by pulling on the wire, you'll have to get the top panels off. This wire approach has never been tried by me, just a suggestion...Well, I hope this helps man. Also look at the service manual exl.pdf or els.pdf can't remember, page 193 i think

lol, nice, looks like ppl starting to join the 'LED' club. You don't have to replace them, they are just fine. Its basically little sponge pieces, and they never tore when I worked on my lights.

 

Yeah i change my reverse to LED's too and nothing tore so i just went with it....i thought it was gonna be hard but it was pretty easy once i got going....officially LED'd out...thanks to ya haha

 

There are instructions and diagrams in the Service Manual for removing the tailights. They start on page 200 of the exl (Exteror Lighting System) section. The steps are...

Caution: Disconnect the battery negative termanl or the fuse.
1. Remove Trunk rear plate.
2. Remove rear combination lamp mounting nuts.
3. Pull the rear combination lamp toward rear of the vehicle.
4. Disconnect rear combination lamp connector.
5. Remove the rear combination lamp.
Caution: Seal packing cannot be reused.

 

none of the clips broke surprisingly... was pretty easy to do.. you really gotta pull on the tail lights though. Was getting pretty worried about those clips
