I park in the far corner of the parking lot at work, so I don't have to worry about it there. I also park next to nice cars when possible or if it's nice out I'll park pretty far out at stores. I think that most door dings come when it's raining or really cold and people try to jump in their car really fast. Like I said eariler, I added chrome door trim on my titan and i'm glad I did. I probably have 5 or 6 places on the trim on both sides where you can tell someone hit it. You guys are right though, it does mess up the lines of the car. I guess I'll just get to know the guys at Dent Station on a first name basis.

Even if they manage to protect the door you still end up with a damaged molding which looks just as bad... pass. And Murphy's law applies the ding will be a cm above or below the molding.

If you want sonething thats not permanent then you could try these, http://www.doordefender.com/
I personally haven't tried them but i saw them on a show called Test Drive on MOJO HD and the said they work pretty good.

Those door defenders are the ugliest things I have possibly seen.
Anyone else have pics of G37 coupes with the nicer side mouldings? Have found nicer pre-painted ones without the chrome. But would like to see more pictures before I buy a set in red.

turn your G37 into a rat rod and don't worry about door dings.
my strategy is:
1) park away from other cars. i consider the extra walk as exercise.
B) when given the choice, don't park next to the beat-up 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, park next to the Mercedes.

My Grand Prix basically has these things from the factory and there are still door dings. Even though the car is nothing special I try to park away from other cars on most occasions and I still seem to find a new door ding every time I door a full detail.
The only way they would ever work is if you are parked next to a car that has a door where the longest point of the backside of the door perfectly matches up with the "door defender." In other words, 99 times out of 100 your door will get dinged regardless.

Sure in a few years when that tree is big. The branches were barely hanging over.
I probably could of parked at the next 'island', but that was farther away from my room. Tough choice to make. Tree sap will come off if removed quickly enough, dings require more work
Found this spot at the local walmart some months back.

Do you know how corrosive the air next to those rusty cargo containers is?
An those dirty shadows...
So neglectful!
In case you didn't get it in my first reply, I was kidding.

Hahah! You know, in years past I was actually ocd enough to care about such things. These days, a bird dropping here or there or some tree sap won't bother me. I'll clean it up eventually.
I'm not one of those that washes the car weekly and carries a microfiber cloth with. A wash every 3-4 weeks is plenty. A dirty windshield is annoying, esp if dead bugs are in the field of view
