I have heard that removing your orig emblems and having them painted is a much cheaper option. Some ppl over on ClubLexus have painted the emblems themselves.

Yeah, it was me...

I was the guy that originally posted that trick and color code to use... Unfortunately, while it looked darn good on the rear, rocks and road debris made the front emblem look like swiss cheese (e.g., horrible). If the cost isn't exhorbitant, I will plate all the emblems so they match, however, if the costs are ridiculous, I will just plate the front emblem to avoid chips.

The look is achieved best when using the Lexus paint color called: Flint Mica (it's a charcoal / greyish with a black tint). If you paint them yourselves, you MUST treat the plastic with a plastic prep (available in spray) and then use VERY light coats of paint. Each coat will look spotty or "grainy" upon application, but when enough coats are applied (1-2 hours between coats, longer when humid), it will look perfect! The very fine coat application process will avoid the color sand requirement that most automotive applications require. Additionally, don't forget to do the same thing for a clearcoat to protect it and give that metallic, glossy look. The same, very light coat application process applies, but don't shake the clear coat or you will get air bubbles....

Hope this helps!

Lee

If you were to spray them up yourself, no matter how much you prep them and what not, they will still look like garbage after a couple weeks of driving. They will chip and start to crack. Your better off getting them plated.

You could get your Mt. Fuji emblem plated at any jewelery store but it would look pretty ****ty IMO.

I can get the emblems plated- it will be $350 for the set, not including the emblems, or $175 for both MT Fuji's without the emblems. If you are interested, PM me. It is expensive because it is sent out of the country as the process is apparently not permitted due to environmental concerns. I did just the MT Fujis and the new logos are not expensive. I do need new logos for ALL but the front Mt Fuji as the latter can be removed without damage as it is clipped onto the vehicle and is easy to remove.
