3M Color-Stable Window Film
Hi Guys,
I plan to get the 3M Color-Stable window film installed on my G. I got two very different quotes for it, $180 and $389!!!! I was wondering how much you guys paid for this film brand.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks!
By the way, did you know the name 3M is printed on the film on every window (that's what I read on 3M's website)? you did get a 3M Warranty card from them as well, right?

Hey caraddict, if you are anywhere near the san fernando valley, I went to a place called sunshield glass tinting in sherman oaks. I had my car done there and they do all of the dealerships around. I think it was about 200 bucks for 5 windows. And it only took about an hour.

I paid $200 for my 3M color-stable. BTW...if they mess up, this film is fantastic to redo as the adhesive comes off a lot better than normal films. Trust me...I had them redo my driver's side window 3 times, lol.

I had the sides done at 35% (the legal minimum in Arizona) and the rear done at 20%. At night, all I can see in the rear view mirror are lights. Nothing else; black with points of light. I am going back in a few days to have the rear changed to 35%.
P.S. All my other cars have or have had 20% in the back. So, it is not like I am not used to tint or didn't know what to expect. But, there seems to be something about the slope of the G37 rear window, plus the rear view window is also tinted, that magnifies the darkness of the rear window tint when using the rear view mirror. (I almost backed into a parking garage post last night.) Even in the daytime it is pretty dark. Looking out of or into the rear window is what you would expect, but using the rear view mirror makes the tint even darker. FWIW.
Second night update. I can see a little more out of the rear view mirror. I can see the shape of cars tonight. I can also see curbs under street lights. Now, it is marginally acceptable. I'll see if it improves tomorrow. Unless there is a huge improvement, I go back the day after tomorrow to have the rear window replaced with 35%. Since my car is garaged at night and spends all day in the basement of a parking structure, I am not too worried about the sun (even in Phoenix). I am more worried about keeping the interior cool in summer, and the 35% blocks as much of the infrared as the 20%. We'll see.
