Window Tinting

I've been reading a lot here about the different window tints (%) people have been getting. I must admit I know nothing about having this done but would like something on the lighter side that just complements the paint (platinum graphite in my case). Any thoughts/recommendations? Are certain manufacturers better than others or is it more in the application? My old 1984 Honda Prelude came with the windows tinted and it peeled and bubbled like crazy. I certainly don't want that! Thanks.

35% is what I got, it Compliments the car, without making it too dark, and its the darkest you can go legally in most states.

the % means the Amount of Light that can go through, Some people get 50%, you cant even notice it, but they get it more for taking away the heat from the car than the Show part.

I had 20% and its pretty dark, but not so dark that if you look through you cant see anything. I never got a Ticket, but it was too dark from outside and in, I felt it took away from the Car, Only reason I would get that again is if I got a Black Car.

Some People even get 5% Tint, thats called LIMO Tint, because its dark like LIMOS and you cant see anything inside, your just asking for a Ticket with that dark tint, but To each his own, some Black cars look Sexy with Limo Tint, but I think it would be toooo dark

Also forgot to mention I got Metallic Tint, it has a hint of Shinyness, but not really, I like it, and it doesnt effect my XM, Navi, or AM/FM

I have 15%, its not dark to me and I've never got a ticket for its on three of my cars. Don't go lower than that. 28% is the legal limit for front windows. So just get em at 30 or 35

No the front windows as in the driver/pASENGER side window not the WINDSHIELD! The backs can be as dark as you want. Double limo if you wish.

Thats what I thought. However I'm still thinking of doing either a 40 or 50% ceramic tint all around. Still gotta do some research to find a good shop in So. Cal. Anyone have any recommendations that carry either Huper Optik, Madico, or 3M?

I always you LLumar, but remember you get what you pay for so cheap tint will obviously not hold up in the long run. The Huper allows a lighter tint with a higher UV block-out. I get 15% for looks, its not to light and its not uber dark so the cops just wanna pull you over everytime they see you.

I'm mostly getting it for the heat reduction since I might be transferring schools next fall to New Mexico State and that'll help out a whole lot, but even if I don't transfer it'll still help with the So Cal summers.

In my experience it doesn't make a huge difference for heat reduction, I can't really tell, it still gets hot, but it does make the car look a whole lot better. I got 20% on mine and it seems to be great, in the middle- its not to light or too dark either.

Cool I'll give them a call tomorrow. By chance, how much did it cost you? And did you see their rates on the clear bras?

I got the Matico ceramic. Costed a bunch, but definitely worth it imo. I live in San Jose and commute to Central Cali for work so it gets very hot during the summer. The guys at premier (www.premiermobilegroup.com) actually showed me with some type of meter to show me how well the ceramic protects people from the heat. I think it was like 10 degrees.

I called www.tintmastercity.com today after class and was able to get in without an appointment. Got the 3M Color Stable Ceramic film at 35% all around. It ended up being $180 for the job. Couldn't be happier, except for the freeway being a parking lot on the way home
