I drive an 08 G37s w/ nav. When I turn on the car the Infiniti logo will be stuck on screen and if it’s not the Infiniti logo then is this message that says the HDD isn’t working to go see a dealership. Anyone know of a easy fix so that I won’t have to drive to the dealership or is that my only option ? Thanks in advance!

 

Sounds like the hard drive gave up the ghost (dying/died). The hard drive is not serviceable and is located deep inside the head unit. Unfortunately the easiest- and cheapest- fix would be to just replace the headunit itself. There are plenty of used headunits on eBay for less than $100.

I would avoid the dealership. They will charge you a ridiculous "diagnostic fee" and tell you to replace the headunit (with a new one from them). A new unit, if available, will cost upwards of $1,500.

Replacing the headunit is a simple "plug-and-play" affair. Should take less than 1 hour. If you go this route you can only use a headunit from a 2008-2009 model. 2010+ WILL NOT WORK without modifications. I strongly suggest you obtain the part number on your existing unit and match from there.
