So my friend borrowed my car today and when she started it up after letting it sit for a bit the speedometer is at zero, won't move, tachometer works, and a bunch of lights on the dash came on. The awd module is dead right now so those were on along with the service engine soon because my gas gauge isn't reading right. But the e brake, no seatbelt and cel are on now as well. Car still runs fine. I'm thinking could be blown fuse?
Went outside this morning, checked a few fuses that sounded like they could have been connected to my problem nothing blown. The lights on the dash are still on. Going to disconnect the battery and see if that fixes it. Last night driving home I tried to use cruise control and on the dash the cruise control sign that comes up when you turn it in was just flashing and it wouldn't activate. Car runs fine.
For some reason your VSS (Vehicle Speed Signal) is not "available." The problem could be as simple as a bad wheel sensor, a ABS pump problem, a bad AC amplifier, or a wiring issue. Without VSS:
- no speedometer;
- cruise control will not set;
- ATTESA will likely go into fail safe (full time RWD);
- other systems (ABS/VDC/TCS) will also go into fail safe.
First, check if there are there any codes stored/ pending You will need a quality scanner that can check all systems or perhaps a auto parts store can check for you. Pay attention to any "C" codes.
Second, Check all fuses/wiring/connectors for the ABS pump/controller.
You can check your cluster itself just to rule that out:
I thought about checking the vss. I ended up taking it to the shop yesterday, they're going to look at it today. Electrical problems aren't something I'm good at.
It could either be the IPDM/or (big fuse block next to battery) or the ABS Controller. Either way, it sounds like a wiring connector came loose somehow. Rare, but possible. Glad you have it sorted and thanks for the update.
