Help 2011 G25x Stereo Options
2011 G25x Stereo Options
I am looking to upgrade my son's 2011 g25 head unit for his birthday. From my reading, it doesn't appear a traditional aftermarket head unit is an option. So, what are my options? Will the Nexus 7 work in the g25? All the center console has is a USB plug that doesn't seem to work. No nav, no bose. Apple carplay would be awesome but bluetooth at the minimum.
Thanks in advance!

USB Bluetooth adapter name...
whotm=Conboss;4264698]Im in the (painfully slow) process of putting a raspberry pi in my dash. It’s not an easy project if you want to change the display to a different display altogether, as the radio in this car communicates on the CAN line. I’d suggest keeping the stock headunit. (Forget the name) there is a Bluetooth adapter you can get for this car, it takes over the satellite radio function. My dad spliced into the satellite radio and added his own aux cord in his G[/QUOTE]
The Bluetooth adapter is called the "Naxa NAB-4003 Bluetooth Audio Adapter"
It does work on the non-bose system, plug it in and select AUX. It may automatically select Aux for you, once you connect your Bluetooth audio device too it and revisit the vehicle later.
The Bluetooth device is known for having some lag roughly 4 to 5 seconds. I have found that this can be alleviated somewhat by placing your phone as close to the Bluetooth devices as possible but it does have a cache it needs to fill to do the job it does converting a Bluetooth stream into a USB stream, so you will end up having some lag no matter what you do. It's bearable for the most part.
The "Satellite Radio tap" is more audiophile tolerant. I added a shielded left+right rca line from the satellite radio line signal tap in the trunk too the front ashtray as i dont smoke, i also added an MSI Bluetooth 5.0 audio receiver on the same line with a hard switch between the Aux input and MSI receiver.
The Naxa worked.... but coming from a long history of quality car stereos and working in car stereo installation labs while in college, i just couldn't leave well enough alone! 😂

2011 g25
The satellite radio is in the right rear of the trunk, you will have to remove upper panel for access to splice into the signal lines.
Left signal negative - green
Left signal positive - red
Right signal negative - white
Right signal positive - black
I tried the Naxa Bluetooth, it says unreadable file.
