Fluctuating cruise control and climate control issue

Hello all,

I drive my 2012 G37s about 100 miles every day (mostly highway). One of the things I have noticed is that when you set the cruise control at 80 and you start to go up a hill the car will slow down by about 5 mph. This is kind of frustrating here in STL where everyone likes to play front door - back door with you on the highway. Has any one else notice this? Is there a fix to this?

I have also noticed that some times when the ac is on and I go to adjust temperature from 60 to let's say 75, the climate control will go in intervals like this: 60,63,64,62,65,66,63,64,65....

Has any one else came across these issues?

Thanks!

Do you have adaptive cruise control if not your speed sensor could be going bad

I don't have adaptive cruise, on previous cars I've owned the wheel speed sensor was mounted on the hub, I assume this is the same for the G37s

I would say that your cruise control is working just fine. Going up/downhill you are always going to have a variance between "SET" speed and actual speed. A 5mph variance, in steep terrain, seems to be average for most cars. Some car makes have closer tolerances than others. Either way, there is no way to adjust this variance as the cruise control system is a function of the ECM.

As for your temperature control, more than likely the dial/potentiometer has a failing connection internally (usually the shaft/slider arm gets loose and doesn't make a solid contact to the resistor element). Unless it completely gives out, I would just leave it alone. If it gets worse or completely fails, you can easily swap out the switch assembly (there are tons on eBay).
