Display Resets Whenever Turn Off

Bought my 09 G37x a few weeks ago and I'm loving it.

I'm just not sure why, but I set the display settings to a particular mode (brightness/contrast) and it just so happens that whenever I turn off my car and turn it back on, it'll reset to some default setting. Same goes for my volume controls - I have to keep readjusting them as they go back down to 3 bars. The other thing is the heater - that too will automatically turn on at a particular setting despite turning it completely off to begin with.

All this happens when I turn off the car despite having them set a particular way before. Why is that? Can I fix it myself?

Thank you.

What about your radio presets? Clock? Trip odometer? Do those reset too?

Unplug the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes.

How old is your battery?

Hey! Thanks for the prompt reply!

The only things that are affected are the ones that I mentioned - odometers, dash screen brightness, clock and others are working fine. As for the battery, I bought the car used so I am not entirely sure. I will try temporarily unplugging the battery for sure and update you.

Have you checked ALL of the fuses in BOTH the driver side kick panel and in the IPDM/er next to the battery? Wouldn't hurt to check everything while the battery is disconnected.

However, if those settings are going back to default when the car is off, this indicates that there is a issue somewhere in the retained power circuit. Some systems receive 12V when the car is off to retain some functions AND settings. They should only restore to default when there is zero (0) voltage (ie. battery disconnected/blown fuse).

I will look over the FSM to see if I can find anything for you to look at/check. (It'll give me something to do today- too f'ing hot/humid to cut the damn grass today).

EDIT: just did a quick check of the FSM. There is a 15amp fuse (#34) that provides 12V constant power to the Display and AV Headunit. I would check here first.
