Low fuel warning - not illuminating?

First, I really don't need to rely on a low fuel indicator to tell me it's time to refuel. I typically don't let my fuel get very low but I did last night and didn't see anything in the matrix display.

The fuel tank on my 2011 sedan is 20 gallons and according to the service manual the indicator should warn me when the tank has less than 3.8 gallons. It's possible that it was very close and I needed to drive further however I don't know of a way to test for proper operation. Pic of fuel level below is just before refueling with 17.319 gallons.

Thoughts? Does the fuel need to be very low before getting a warning?

that's not low. the fuel gauge needle isn't even at the last mark. keep in mind that the range is based on your recent mpg. you're probably another 10 miles off from when the light goes on. don't trust the "range" screen - trust your fuel gauge.

Thank you!
That's along the lines of what I was thinking.
