Disable factory alarm

Is there anyway to temporarily disable or at least silence (lights only) the factory alarm. I'm doing some work on the car and will be disconnecting and reconnecting the battery a few times and the high pitched alarm is driving me nuts.

Where is the siren's speaker located?

That's strange. I've disconnected and reconnected my battery a few times and never heard an alarm. Is alarm armed/doors locked when you're disconnecting?

Nope, it's in my garage so I leave the doors unlocked and the windows open. It does it every time without fail; even if it is only disconnected for 3 seconds.

What year? Are you the first owner? My guess is someone added an alarm for when the battery is disconnected or that's a factory option I don't have.

It's a 2009 G37x Coupe, I'm not the first owner. I just bought it last week.

I use the factory key fob to turn it off and it shows the blinking red car on the dash when it is off to show the alarm is armed. I'm guessing an aftermarket one wouldn't set that light but i don't know this platform well enough to know for sure and i haven't checked under the dash yet though.

I've read the horn can be turned off by pressing lock and unlock but mine doesn't use the horn, it is a high pitched alarm. I can give it a try tonight

I took a look under the dash and nothing was spliced in. It was all very clean.

Assuming it's factory, do you know how to disable your alarm?

Edit: Nevermind, i took the battery cover off to find the siren. the siren is definitely aftermarket and the wires runs behind the glove box instead of under the steering wheel. I'll have to find the module and look it up.

thanks for the replies
